Every Indian should feel a deep sense of pride in their heritage, as the level of freedom and democratic values found in India is unparalleled globally, stated Nandyal MP Dr. Byreddy Shabari.

She was speaking as the Chief Guest at the valedictory session of a two-day national seminar titled "21st Century Women’s Literature – A Critical Review." The seminar was organized by the Department of Telugu at the Government Degree College (Men), under the jurisdiction of Cluster University.

Highlights from Dr. Byreddy Shabari’s Address

Addressing a large gathering of students and faculty, Dr. Shabari reflected on the historical struggles of the nation and the evolution of women's rights:

  • Resilience through History: She reminded the youth of the immense hardships faced by previous generations to secure the freedoms enjoyed today.
  • Empowerment through Representation: Emphasizing that women are second to none, she noted that the 33% reservation for women is a vital tool that allows them to excel in every professional and political field.
  • The Path to Success: She urged students to maintain strict discipline and follow the guidance of their mentors to reach great heights.

Perspectives on Women’s Literature and Politics

"Society improves only when women become fully conscious of their potential." — Dr. Indira Shanti, Principal.

The seminar featured several prominent literary voices:

  • Jupaka Subhadra (Writer): Expressed concern over the persistent criticism faced by female writers, calling for a shift in societal attitudes.
  • V. Pratima (Writer): Highlighted the "glass ceiling" in politics, noting that while women hold positions, true power often remains with men.
  • Dr. Vindhyavasini Devi (Seminar Director): Stressed the need to document women’s literary history, noting that nearly 200 research papers were presented.

Distinguished Guests

The event saw participation from Chandrasekhara Kalkura (Gadicherla Foundation), Gowreddy Harichandra Reddy (Telugu Saraswata Vaibhavam), Vice Principals Dr. Hemanth and Dr. Satyanarayana, and faculty members Dr. Ramu and Somashekhar.

The program concluded with a grand felicitation of the guests by the Department of Telugu.
